Scottsdale Exhibition Gallery is hosting "Realism without Borders" an exhibition featuring international oil painters at thier best!
French painters Antonin Passemard along with Vanessa Rothe will be performing a painting demonstration January 31st, from 7-9 p.m. during Art Walk. Our sculpture show will be running concurrently with the brief realism show, so be sure to come visit and experience this rich exhibition before it's gone!
Vanessa Françoise Rothe grew up in the artists colony of Laguna Beach, CA, the daughter of a well known German clothing designer Detlev Rothe, and her French mother Jacqueline Ricaud. She received scholarships to study Business and Art at the University of San Diego, Laguna College of Art and Design, and has had classical training with private instructor/workshops in the Ateliers of France and Italy. Vanessa has been honored to exhibit alongside some of the Nations most well known painters and has had three successful solo exhibitions at Wendt Gallery in Laguna Beach, along with a strong list of group shows including the prestigious "Artists for a New Century" at The Bennington Center for the Arts, the "Annual American Impressionist Society Exhibition", "Richard Schmid Fine Art Auction's", and California Art Club exhibitions. A Signature member of the American Impressionist society, she is also honored to be the California Regional Editor of the Nationally acclaimed art collector magazine FINE ART CONNOISSEUR as well as a contributing writer for Plein Air magazine. Vanessa is also proud to be the Author/Artist of a brand new series of art books produced by Walter Foster Publishing, the leader in art instructional books, "An Art School Approach to Oils" sold at book and art stores worldwide.
Influenced by a combination of representational art and Impressionist works, and by masters such as Sargent and Sorolla, Vanessa takes the essence of a subject and captures its charm on canvas with the use of color, shadows, and light. The natural simplicity of her work, her visable brush strokes and pleasing color combinations form a realist yet slightly impressionistic style which her collectors admire. Her subjects include the beautiful pastoral landscapes of France and Tuscany, the allure of historic cities such as Paris and Venice, classic California seascapes and landscapes, vibrant still life as well as some new figurative work.
Vanessa is sponsored by Sennelier oil paints and by Savoir Faire Importer of fine art materials.
Antonin Passemard was born in Burgundy, France and trained at the Beaux Art school of Auxerre. There, He studied the masters and had the opportunity to meet a lot of good artists that helped along the way. His paintings are always things that are close to him. “I paint my life. My focus is to create personal and expressive paintings. I want to capture the light, without getting too descriptive with the objects. I like to think that I destroy things and rebuild them from light. Painting from life is my number one requirement. That is why I am a plein air painter.”
